Hollister Grape & Fall Festival This Weekend.

Thursday, September 23, 2010 by Chris Myer
This weekend , Saturday September 25th, the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hollister will present the 12th Annual Grape & Fall Festival on Historic Downing Street in Downtown Hollister. The event will run from 10am—10pm this year, and feature over 50 booths—including great food, crafts, local businesses, churches, city services and tons of children’s activities.  Hollister is located right next to Branson.

Enjoy live music all day under the main tent and on the street from a variety of local entertainers. The famous Grape Stomp Competition begins at 2:00pm and is a highlight of the day! Local funny-man Jim Barber will emcee the event, and Mayor of Hollister, David Tate and the City Aldermen will be the esteemed judges. Teams of four compete for the much-revered Ugly Monkey Trophy (and bragging rights)!

With a variety of food vendors—offering everything from corn dogs, funnel cakes, Italian Ice, gourmet brats, catfish & hushpuppies, taco bar, kettle korn, etc—no one will walk away hungry! Don’t forget the Downing Street businesses. Riverstone Café, the Black Horse Pub, Little Hacienda and Vintage Paris will all be open and serving food as well. And if you come to shop—they will have nearly 20 vendors providing everything from homemade arts and crafts to handbags and personalized art. And don’t forget to explore the sidewalk sale at Downing Street Furniture, find treasures in the Green Lantern Antique Shop or take a stroll in the new Ye Olde Antique & Flea Market.

Bring the whole family! Kids can enjoy large inflatables (like a bounce house, etc), face painting, “wiggle cars”, clowns, duck pond,  fingerprinting by the Hollister PD, World’s Largest Connect-4 Game and more!

Entertainment is extended well into the night and we hope everyone will stick around and enjoy a great night on Downing Street! SIX performs at 6pm…followed by The Bad Habit Band at 7pm. The Bad Habit Band has opened concerts for country acts: Mark Chesnut, Gary Allen, Dierks BentleyKentucky Headhunters, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Rock acts: Bad Company and Jackyl.
